Radio on Upswing

Though the FM Radio content is thoroughly controlled by the government its popularity is increasing by the day, today in India FM radio stations are only allowed to play music and other entertainment programs, no news and general reporting items are allowed. But all this is likely to change; the government is contemplating to bring about a change in the law to allow news reporting also through FM channels. Media analysts insist that it is a matter of time before this becomes a law and then radio will have a further appeal to a vast majority of India, its popularity is likely to go further up. The Lok Satta party had used radio extensively for its election campaigning. Even IPL is being heavily promoted through radio.
