Radio Pollikontho 99.2 has started its test transmission

Radio Pollikontho a community radio initiative by BRAC has started its test transmission in the area of Chandnighat union of Moulovibajar district.

Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, District Commissioner of Moulovibazar, Md. Ashraful Alam Khan, UNO Upazila Moulovibazar, Anna Minj, Director, BRAC Community Empowerment Programme, AHM. Bazlur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh NGO's Network for Radio and Communication were present to attend the inauguration of test transmission.

District print and electronic media representative, BRAC officials and members of the executive committee of "Radio Pollikontho" were also present at the ceremony.

"Radio Pollikontho" will be broadcasting to promote socio-economic development as well as access to information of the local people as a sustainable and accessible instrument focusing on women and children from the grassroots level, ensuring people's participation in the rural development, promoting life and livelihood of the local people and their heritage and culture.

Development news will be broadcasted along with education, local tainment and development motivation, specially using local dialect.

"Radio Pollikontho" will be available in the radius of a 17 k.m around the station at Moulovibazar Sadar. With the assistance of BRAC Community Empowerment Programme and community people "Radio Pollikontho" is expected to become a popular and effective tool to develop community awareness, ensuring people's rights and contribute in building digital Bangladesh.

Radio Pollikontho will be starting its full fledge transmission soon.
